Adam Brown Mahogany

Adam Brown Mahogany Water Stain

¶ Used on Mahogany, Birch, Gum, Maple, Cypress.

¶ Formula:

2 ounces mahogany brown aniline, dry, water soluble,
½ ounce nigrosine J, dry, water soluble,
¼ ounce bichromate of potash, dry,
1 gallon of hot water for real mahogany wood, and for gum. For other woods use 3 quarts of water.
Brush on, let dry and sandpaper. Clean up and apply a very thin coat of orange shellac.

¶ Filler:

Silica (silex) colored very dark with Vandyke brown and a very little reset pink, both ground in oil pigments.

¶ Finish:

Orange shellac. Varnish and rub dull, or flat varnish.
