Yet more questions on cypress wood and how to finish it.

First, visitor Boyd Boshears asks:

We are currently attempting to stain our interior trim which is cypress wood. Some boards look great, but many come out splotchy, and uneven. We prefer a medium to darker stain, but have even experimented with lighter. Is there a process that we should follow prior to staining to prep the wood.

And then Bob asks:

I installed Cypress on the walls in our hot tub room and now I would like to finish it to bring out the beauty of the wood. What would you recommend using?
