Mahagony Wood

Ed has a question about mahogany wood chairs.

I have made a close duplicate of three mahagony chairs that I bought at a garage sale. The stain that I used on the three does not darken the new chair to the same level. Will mahagony darken like cherry will if left out in the sun? Or do I just start with a darker stain? Any leg up will help. Thanks.
